I took a little trip to see my twin brother, Michael, in New York City. I had a good time...and I'm almost sure he did as well.
I flew out of Orlando in the morning and landed at JFK International Airport in the afternoon. I was surprised I made it that far by myself.
I eventually headed out to the streets of New York City to look for my twin.
I found The Daily Show studio so I figured there was a good chance to find my twin here. So I called him and told him to go outside.
Michael was happy to see me and (as always) gave me the proper New York greeting.
I sat next to him at his work station as he continued to give me his idea of an appropriate greeting.
I was walking around the studio and stumbled upon the set for the show.
They need to show more color bars on The Daily Show.
Michael kept a close eye on me to make sure I would only break the expensive equipment.
Twins on The Daily Show.
Seriously...they need to show more color bars.
It was time for Michael to get back to work for a segment on the show.
Break time.
Back to work.
The show was a success and now it's time to go.
Michael and I walked around the city for the rest of the night as he showed me how he prefers to greet tourists.
The next morning we were on our way to find something to do in order to preoccupy Michael with something else to do instead of constantly giving me and my camera the New York greeting.
Even though we have both been to it before we made a stop over at the Mecca Apple store.
Inside we were fortunate enough to find a way to check the weather.
FAO Schwarz was right next door so we checked it out.
Lego Chewy nicely greeted me inside the store with out giving me the finger.
If there is anything more frightening than a melancholy shark then it would have to be a melancholy shark made out of Legos.
Michael was the least bit scared of the Lego clan from Harry Potter.....
.....but he was a tad startled by the oversized fire breathing stuffed dragon.
I was wrong about the melancholy shark. Plastic babies enclosed in a glass case is far more upsetting.
We found The Big Piano and I was ready to fulfill my life long dream of pretending to be as cool as Tom Hanks.
I had quickly discovered I can play the piano just as well on my feet as I can with my hands.
Here I am in action!
Then Michael wanted to get it on the fun as well. TWINS ON BIG PIANO!!!!!
Michael didn't seem to be terrified by the freaky creature behind him, but if was breathing fire then that would be a whole different story.
Lego Batman is all about business just as much as the non-Lego Batman.
We walked over to the Central Park Zoo and Michael was eager to go inside.
Michael continued to greet the tourists within the zoo grounds.
I always said I could do a pretty good impression of a stone eagle and now I have proof.
The sea lions were more energetic than usual at the zoo.
At this point Michael is being vocal that he has already seen enough.....
.....but then he changed his mind once I got him over to the penguin room.
A polar bear snatched a child's toy and wanted to find out if it could float.
I was intrigued by the polar bear's behavior and decided to observe and possibly journal about the activity.
The polar bear could not swim at all and was hanging on to the stolen child's toy for dear life.
My twin watched the animal drown to it's water tomb from a safe distance. Sadly, this is how most polar bears die in New York City.
I found a no good lazy cheetah.
Michael reads up on this particular cheetah and it's laziness.
It was great to see how the monkeys recycle old barrels from the city streets to use them as vomiting stations.
I was honestly shocked to see bamboo in the middle of New York City.
As we entered into the "Rain Forest" there was some kind of weird pigeon roaming around outside of it's cage.
I got as close as I could get to it without screaming like a little girl.
The "Rain Forest" was pretty much the last thing to see at the zoo and judging by our mildly pleasant smiles you can really tell that the Central Park Zoo is fun for the whole family.
I continued to follow Michael as he walked aimlessly through the streets of New York City. We ended up in his favorite part of town...Times Square.
It was nice to see the area again, but I must say I was taken aback when another monster strolled right through.
Michael was used to seeing plenty of monsters in the city and was extremely disappointed when I told him I didn't want to go see Mamma Mia!
As we continued to walk down the road the Blue M&M was making some very nice compliments to Michael about his shirt.
He eventually lured us into M&M's World. I felt very uncomfortable with the Blue M&M trying to seduce me with his disco getup.
The Red M&M was getting ticked off about something so I thought I would join in on the fun.
Michael was very disappointed to find out that these particular M&M's were actually non-alcoholic.
The Yellow M&M and Michael have a fire breathing contest.
I stayed out of this one because this contest was a bit...HEATED! OOHHHH...ZING!!!
No one was impressed with the Green M&M at all. Even if she could stand on one leg all day long.
The sight of so much sugar makes me want to breathe fire!
It was time to leave M&M's World, which unfortunately meant one more awkward moment for me with the Blue M&M as I walked to the door.
It was time to leave the tourist trap and go do something boring. Like eat food and go to the bar...stuff I didn't take pictures of.
The next morning we headed over to Battery Park and Michael breathed fire in the direction of where we need to walk.
Getting used to the chilly wind is not fun after living in Florida for so many years.
I thought I would be able to get a little bit of peace and quiet in the city by sitting next to a guy frozen in carbonite but I was unmistakably wrong. I've never heard someone murmur, "help" so much in my life!
Me and Michael were sick of walking like a sucker, so we decided to ride the subway like a sucker.
The train rides can take a while depending on where you go so we were doing our best impressions of each other to pass the time.
Afterwards, Michael gave me another greeting.
We made a quick stop over to Sesame Street. It was nice to visit Big Bird for a few minutes, but honestly I was getting a little sick of him hyping up the letter "Y" for so long.
Our next stop was Central Park!
I enjoyed getting a little bit of sun at the Great Lawn.
Michael couldn't take much more of the sun...and probably me.
Great Lawn twin shot!
I told Michael to stand near that bridge so I can take a picture. He listens to me because I'm the boss of him.
I was sad to leave Central Park. Michael didn't care.
Michael continued to greet me even though I've been in New York City for a few days already, but it was nice of him to breathe fire in the direction of where we were heading so I wouldn't be completely lost while walking.
We made it over to the Empire State Building and I wanted to check it out before the aliens blow it up to kingdom come.
Here we have an artist's rendition of the building.
Here we have another artist's rendition of the building.
We found out we would have to wait 1 1/2 hours before going to the top of the building. Neither of us wanted to do this so instead I spent some quality time observing a model of the building. It turned out to be the best free thing I have ever done in NYC.
We somehow ended up back at Times Square, which again is Michael's favorite spot to hang out.
Not only does he frequently sees Mamma Mia! on Broadway, but he always enjoys a showing of Billy Elliot from time to time.
We were both very surprised that someone who was willing to take a picture of us actually knew how to take a good picture.
Michael is a huge fan of Jay Leno.
We left Time Square once again and walked around in the non-flashy areas of the city.
We even walked through a little bit of Central Park where Michael continued to give me a warm New York City greeting.
As you can see, the entertainment in NYC is top quality.
Michael ran into the entrance of his apartment trying to lock me out before I could get to the door.
I made it through the entrance just in time, but will I be able to make it into his room?
Yep.
Michael was excited that I would spend one more night at his place.
The next morning I had to head back to Orlando, so Michael showed me where to go by breathing fire one more time in the right direction.
Sad times waiting for the subway train to come and separate us.
It was now officially time to say goodbye.
Michael gave me the New York City goodbye wave as the doors shut.
NYC doesn't allow too much time for this kind of sappy goodbye junk, so the train left the station at a blazing speed.
I eventually found my way back to the JFK International Airport and would soon get back to Orlando. I was excited to go back home so I can show off my new fire breathing trick thanks to FAO Schwarz.
The End.
